Hot on the heels of the Pocher Porsche 917K, we have the kit you’ve all been waiting for – the 1971 Le Mans winner. The Porsche 917KH MARTINI Edition has a stunning design that exudes championship energy and will look incredible on your workbench. At the time when the 917k was dominating racetracks around the world, it was the only car that ever stood a chance of winning 24 Hours of Le Mans.

With its distinctive, aerodynamic design, the Porsche 917KH stood out well before it hit the racetrack. This was a car built to win endurance races, while the iconic MARTINI race livery ensured a striking finish with its eye-catching blue and red stripes on a crisp white background.
It offered far more than just its looks, however. The lightweight design and 4.9L 12-cylinder engine meant it was a menace on the racetracks, speedier and more agile than any of its contenders. A lot of the car’s success was attributed to its experimental magnesium chassis.
Driven by Gijs Van Lennep and Helmut Marko in one of the world’s most famous endurance races, the car secured Porche’s first overall victory at 24 hours of Le Mans. Van Lennep became the first Dutch winner of the race and the team's result of 5,335km in 24 hours set a distance record that remains almost 40 years later.

The very first Porsche model kit from Pocher came back in 1998, long before the era of Hornby Hobbies. There were models in various different colours which are now long discontinued– if you’re lucky you might be able to pick one up on secondary marketplaces.
We released our first modern Porsche 917 kit last year, under a new official licence (check it out here). Reviews were very positive and it’s a great build, but we always had another trick up our sleeve. Pocher fans were overwhelmingly certain about which livery they wanted to see and we couldn’t wait to oblige. When the car looks this good, how could we refuse?

When it came to replicating such an incredible racecar in premium model kit form, it was important to get it as close to the original as possible. Made almost completely of 316+ parts, it will take you around 30 hours to build, as you meticulously put together the whole car, using over 200 screws.
Even the interior is impressive, replicating that famous 053 magnesium chassis and 12-cylinder engine. You’ll really get a feel for what the Porsche engineers went through when they built their race-winning car – on a 1:8 scale, of course. There’s a working suspension system, functional steering, moving doors and a clamshell engine cover – we’ve really covered all the most important features.
Each piece is pre-painted too, so you slowly build up the iconic MARTINI Racing livery, with its famous red and blue stripes. Once you’ve finished creating your masterpiece, you can place it inside a Pocher display case. The velvet-flocked base and acrylic lid make it the perfect place for your precious build.
