About Peter's Railway

Since he was a very small boy, Chris has always loved everything mechanical - especially steam engines.  He created his first workshop in his bedroom when he was 8, and made an electric go-kart, followed by a mini-bike powered by the engine from a petrol lawn mower.

He spent many holidays on a friend’s farm where there was a miniature railway across a field, and so started a love of making model steam locomotives.  The latest is Bongo. Bongo is 8 feet long and the inspiration for Fiery Fox in the books.

Chris wanted to share his love and knowledge of railways and engineering:  Peter’s Railway is the result.

There are now 20 titles in the series.

• The six hardbacks are the story of Peter and his Grandpa building a little steam railway across their farm. At the end of chapters are simple but accurate technical pages explaining aspects of the story. Age range: 6 to 12 years.
• There is also a range of paperbacks. The four “Little PR” book are younger, around 3 to 6 years. 
• The other paperbacks cover a mixture of topics:  Grandpa’s true stories from the old days, stories set on the farm railway, or little science/engineering books.  Age range around 6 to 12 years.
• Finally, the Activity Book. This is a best seller and has a very varied range of activities: some quite easy, others harder to encourage collaboration between generations.
